Preparations to be done for the surgery

You will be given a date for the surgery only after you are declared fit for the procedure

- Stop smoking at least 4 weeks prior to surgery.
- Do not take any anti-inflammatory drugs, aspirin or any herbal supplements as they can aggravate bleeding.
- Admission will be done on the same day at the centre.
- Written consent form will be signed explaining the procedure after the admission.
- Meeting with the anaesthetist for Pre Anaesthetic check-up (PAC) before the surgery.

Post Surgery
How do recover after the surgery?
After the surgery, dressings are applied to the surgical area. You will be discharged the next day of the surgery followed by the weekly visits or as suggested by Dr. Amit Agarwal. You will be made to walk a few hours post-surgery or the very following day, depending on your will and wish.
- There can be substantial swelling and bruising of the face region which usually subsides in a week or two.
- Sutures are non-absorbable in eyelid surgery, lip lift, facelift and brow lift. They would be removed after a week. Dr Amit Agarwal does not prefer to use absorbable sutures for closing these incisions as in few cases granuloma might be formed delaying healing process.
- There should be no vigorous exercises after the surgery until the surgeon recommends. Always keep your head elevated over pillows while lying down on bed or preferably by placing a folded mattress or quilt under the bedding.
- Incision and bandage must be kept dry and specific instructions should be followed about bathing and washing.
- Ice fomentation can be done but not too much as this can compromise the blood flow and result in skin death.
- In the days following surgery, there will be pain which can be subsided by the pain killers given by Dr Amit Agarwal.
- Soreness might last for few weeks.
- You can start exercising after 6 weeks post-surgery.
- You can return to work depending on your will power and the type of work required after 2-3 weeks.
