The Lymphatic system is a network of lymph vessels, tissues, and organs that carry lymph throughout the body. This system is different from blood vessels like arteries and veins which carry blood.
What is lymphoedema?
If this lymphatic system is blocked or damaged in the body, lymph is not able to flow through the body in the lymphatic vessels. The resultant excess lymph fluid is collected in soft tissues which is called Lymphedema.

There are two types of lymphoedema. Primary lymphedema is due to abnormal development of the lymph system and Secondary lymphedema is due to damage to the lymphatic system due to one of the reasons mentioned below-
