A MACS Facelift, or Minimal Access Cranial Suspension Face Lift, is a surgical procedure that focuses on lifting and rejuvenating the aging face and neck. It’s designed to help individuals who are self-conscious about the signs of aging on their face and seek to regain a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
A MACS Facelift is a specialized surgical technique that aims to lift sagging facial tissues, reduce excess skin, and smooth out wrinkles and folds. It’s a less invasive and quicker procedure compared to some other facelift techniques, resulting in faster recovery times and minimal scarring.
A MACS Facelift involves making incisions near the hairline and ears to access and lift the deeper tissues of the face. Sutures are used to reposition the facial muscles and tissues, providing a more youthful appearance. The incisions are strategically placed to minimize visible scarring.
A youthful face is characterized by a well-defined jawline and full, high cheeks, often referred to as the “triangle of youth.” With age, factors like gravity, sun exposure, facial fat loss, and other lifestyle elements can lead to sagging skin, flattened cheeks, wrinkles, and jowls, resulting in an inverted triangle or aging triangle appearance.
A MACS Facelift can address several signs of aging in the face and neck, including sagging skin and fat, excess skin and fat along the jawline and chin, loss of facial volume, wrinkled cheeks, and deep fold lines. It aims to restore a more youthful and refreshed look to the face.
A simple MACS Lift is when two sutures are woven to rejuvenate the sagging of the neck and lower face and if a third suture is woven to tighten the mid-face and the lower eyelid, it is called an extended MACS Lift. Skin is redraped over the uplifted areas and the excess skin is trimmed near the ear and hairline. The skin is closed with sutures and glue over a drain. The incision lines are finely concealed inside the hairline and within the natural contours of the ear. The final scar blends with the hairline rendering it almost unnoticeable.
MACS Facelift surgery can be combined with other procedures to enhance overall results. These additional procedures might include brow lifts, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), upper lip lifts, fat transfer to the face, and treatments for wrinkles. These can be performed either in a single stage or in separate stages to achieve a comprehensive rejuvenation of the aging face.
During a consultation for a MACS Facelift, you should discuss your desired post-surgery appearance, your facial profile, any previous surgeries, drug allergies, current medical conditions, medications or supplements you’re taking, alcohol and tobacco use, and any other procedures you may want in addition to the facelift. Your surgeon will examine your facial structure and assess your general health to determine if you’re a suitable candidate for the surgery.
Discuss potential risks and complications with your surgeon before the procedure. These can include seroma formation, facial nerve injury, visible scarring, hair loss at the incision site, facial asymmetry, altered skin sensation, infection, persistent swelling and bruising, poor healing (more common in smokers and individuals with certain medical conditions), wound complications, bleeding, and deep vein thrombosis or other cardiac complications in individuals with multiple pre-existing conditions.
Prolonging Facelift Results:
To extend the longevity of your MACS Facelift results, it’s important to use sunblock regularly and maintain a healthy lifestyle. These practices can help you enjoy a more youthful appearance for an extended period.
Always be open and honest about your medical history and previous surgeries.
Promptly consult your surgeon if you experience any complications.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle to optimize your results.
Avoid surgery if you have a major chronic illness and discuss your health thoroughly with your doctor.

Breast augmentation and breast reduction are two very different procedures. Augmentation (breast enlargement) increases breast volume and alters shape, usually for cosmetic or reconstructive goals. Reduction removes breast tissue and skin to make breasts smaller and relieve symptoms. In general, augmentation is chosen by patients who want fuller, more symmetrical breasts (or as reconstruction after…
